Google custom search is the program by Google Adsense through which you can show ads on search pages on your blog. If your site is too large and users can navigate to the posts which they want, then they gonna search on your site. Whenever your visitors searches certain keywords on your blog, Google shows their ads along with the search results. If visitor clicks on the ads link shown by Adsense, you’re gonna make some money from it. In this way, you can increase Adsense revenue from Google Adsense search box.

What is Google custom search?
Google custom search (Adsense for search) is the free program by Google Adsense. You must have approved Adsense account in order to show relevant ads on your desired site. Study out the Adsense policies and don’t go against their policies or you could be suspended. Google Adsense not only show their ads only but also it helps the visitors to search the keywords on your site. So it might be helpful for you to keep search box on your site. If you don’t have approved Adsense account, you can put Google custom search box on your blog.
By placing Google Adsense search box, you will generate earning from the clicks made by the user on search result page. However, if the user doesn’t choose to click the ads, you won’t get your earnings. The pic below shows the ads shown by Google AdSense on the search result.
Setup Google custom search
Before going to Adsense account, create an empty page naming it as a search result on Blogger or WordPress. It will be used to show the searched result with google ads.
- Go to Adsense account.
- On the left side, click on my ads, scroll down and click on custom search engines.
- After that click on New custom search engine.
- Just fill up the form, give the name as your desire, click on the only site I select redo button (type site name and give the keywords.
- After that, click on search results at the bottom of the form and click on the redo button as shown in the pic below.
- Give the URL of the empty page that we had created in the beginning and click save and get the code. You can customize the colors, URL of ads displayed. Just click on Access more advanced search features on the bottom of the page.
After getting the code, copy the above code (search box code) and put it in your blogger template, or sidebar where you find its appropriate place. Copy the below code (search result code) and paste it on the empty page that we have created in the beginning. Before pasting the code on the page, you must make the editor as HTML editor.
Make sure reader’s comments are disabled. To disable comment, click on the option on the right side menu and select on Don’t allow below reader comment. After that click on publish. Remember that, don’t click on your own ads. This was the method to put a search box on the blog through Adsense account.
Google custom search without Adsense account
Go to the website. Login to your Google account. Click on New Search engine. Fill up the form and click on create. After creating a new search engine, click on get code (don’t use that code). On the menu on left side, click on the look and feel and select two page. After that click on Save and get the code. The first code is for the search box. You can place it wherever you like (sidebar, navbar, anywhere you like). Next code you have to place on the page we have created in the beginning. Google custom search offers many more setup to make changes. You can show ads on this search engine as well. To enable monetization click on setup on left menu >> make money >> and turn it on (you should have approved AdSense account to show ads).
